Developed by the National Pickle Packers Association and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station and introduced in 1929, this variety produces an abundance of 5–7 inch cucumbers. Fruits are firm, black-spined, and dark green. This cultivar is very tolerant of powdery mildew (though not fully resistant) and also resistant to cucumber mosaic virus and scab. The perfect size, shape, and texture for pickling and canning!
Direct sow after last frost. Can be started indoors 4 weeks before last frost.
