Ahus is an heirloom Swedish tobacco named after the town of Åhus where is was grown for over 100 years. This variety was used mainly as a cigar and pipe tobacco, but was also used to make Swedish snus and snuff.
These plants are very compact and only get about 3’ tall. Very early to mature, the leaves can be harvested as soon as 40 to 50 days after transplanting. A good variety for small spaces, containers or very northern climates with short growing seasons. Suckers need to be pruned regularly as these plants tend to produce more than larger plants.
Start indoors or in a greenhouse 4-6 weeks before last frost date. Transplant after last frost.
