A family heirloom from Appalachia, like most old Appalachian beans, this retains tender pods until the seeds are fully sized, although it does have strings. You get much more nutrition and flavor with beans of this type. White seeded. Short fat pods start out flat but eventually plump up as seeds mature. Gigantic leaves on tall 8-12′ vines, this is a real “cornfield” type bean, well suited to growing up the stalks of tall historic corns.

Direct sow after last frost.
