This strain of long bean has been grown by Lao friends of Esoteric Agriculture for many years. Extremely deep purple, super long beans stay tender at nearly any size and have no strings. Huge vines grow 8-12′ tall, pods easily can get 2-3′ long or more, with rose colored brown spotted seeds. Technically a form of cowpea, like all cowpeas, immune to common bean pests and diseases and much more tolerant of heat and drought. I find the pods better tasting personally than common beans-to me, they have an almost mushroom or oyster flavor, amazing. These are not as overall productive per unit area as common beans however.
