Bred and selected by Esoteric Agriculture over many years from an original cross of Purple Podded Pole with ‘Backbone Ridge’, an old family heirloom half runner bean. 3-6′ tall climbing but relatively compact vines produce massive yields of fat round green pods with a purple tip when fully sized up. Selected for insect and disease resistance, drought tolerance, and huge yields. This is an old fashioned Appalachian style bean, which means that while it does have strings, it stays tender podded all the way up until the seeds are nearly full sized. This type of bean offers more flavor and nutrition than modern stringless beans. An Esoteric Agriculture original.
